Managed all operations of this privately owned para-professional theatre company and theatre training center. Through 2017, the company produced one summer production running for four weeks each year. Since Summer of 2017, the company has expanded to include a full season of theatrical performances. Additionally, the training arm of the company provides class instruction, private instruction and work shops in all aspects of Theatre. Selected as a Best Live Theatre Company by both Anchorage newspapers.
Performed all duties and expectations of a Stage Director for theatre companies throughout Alaska. Companies include: TBA Theatre, Anchorage Community Theatre, Alaska Sound Celebration, Alaska Theatre of Youth and others.
Provided tutoring, test prep and study skills courses and individual instruction to Middle School and High School students.
Directed “The Fantasticks.” This included all aspects of the Artistic Directing role. Maintained communication with production team and production management. Worked with student designers and their advisors to achieve continuity and a solid understanding of the directorial vision. Conducted all rehearsals. Auditioned all cast members. Selected musicians and choreographers. Worked closely with the musical director to achieve a balance between vocal and acting elements. By all accounts the production was very successful.
In charge of all elements of production for West Anchorage High School Theatre department. This included instruction of Beginning Acting, Advanced Acting, Play Production and International Baccalaureate Theatre classes as well as booking theatrical productions, managing scenery and costume inventory, directing all productions, hiring and managing contract scenery, costume, musical, choreography and other related personnel, and all financial elements of a company that typically mounts 5-7 productions per year and travels with a performance every 2-3 years. In non-travel years, our budget was approximately $35K-$50K. In travel years, the budget was approximately $90K-$120K.
Instructor for one course of Beginning Acting. This included introductory theatrical skills, theatre history, acting basics and basic literary analysis. Additionally directed two performances
Instruction in various classes including Auditioning, Beginning Acting and Intermediate Acting for adults.
Instructor for an advanced high school acting workshop on various techniques to develop spontaneity in character
Managed over 100 students and 25 employees in a summer theatre camp. This included managing a four week long instructional calendar, ticket sales, registrations, house management and oversight on multiple performances running in Rep.
Educated students in various aspects of theatre including: Acting skills, literary analysis, directing, theatre history, improvisation, character development, etc., at a month long theatre camp. Additionally directed students in a production during the camp.
Managed over 100 students and 25 employees in a summer theatre camp. This included managing a four week long instructional calendar, ticket sales, registrations, house management and oversight on multiple performances running in Rep. Additionally coordinated with a second “campus” of the camp running simultaneously.
Educated students in various aspects of theatre including: Acting skills, literary analysis, directing, theatre history, improvisation, character development, etc., at a month long theatre camp. Additionally directed students in a production during the camp.
Managed all aspects of a Summer theatre program in Valdez, Alaska which included box office management, class instruction, management of two other employees and directing a performance.
Educated students in various aspects of theatre including: Acting skills, literary analysis, directing, theatre history, improvisation, character development, etc., at a month long theatre camp. Additionally directed students in a production during the camp.
Instructed students in theatre skills including acting and play writing in a Summer theatre conservatory for school district students. During the four week program, students learned all aspects of theatre and performed for an audience.
Directed productions at numerous venues and for multiple production companies. For full list, please see portfolio. Production companies have included: University of Alaska, The Anchorage Opera, Anchorage Community Theatre, Anchorage School District, Alaska Overnighters, and many others.
I have performed and been a technician in multiple productions. These have included community theatre presentations, university productions as well as on-camera commercial work. A full list of performance and technical theatre activities is available in my portfolio, however, some companies include: University of Alaska, TBA Theatre, Manoa Valley Theatre, Washington State University, and others. Commercial work has included on-camera work for The Alaska State Fair, The Alaska Court System and others.
